Squash

Some mornings I strap on my tennis shoes and walk into the forrest behind our neighborhood. One morning I noticed in a small deserted patch, some squash blossoms. I knew what they were, as my mom grows squash in her garden. Several days later a large squash was there. I picked it and brought it home. After I cut it and cooked it and ate it, I thought maybe it was butternut. Does anybody know? We can't buy butternut squash here. It was delicious!

For what its worth....I'm no expert, for sure...that looks like an acorn squash to me. All butternut squash I've ever known of are yellow on the outside.

Have read your blog for a couple of years now and love hearing above your life in Turkey. You have a beautiful family!

I love that you pick up some random thing you find growing along the way, bring it home, cook it, and then try to figure out what it is.

Every day's an adventure over there, isn't it?

I have bought some this summer in the GOP area and they tasted great. I don't see them very often, but I buy them anyway even they are a bit on the pricy side!
