Cute Shoes

My Granny went to heaven last Spring. I have so many good memories of her. Some of my favorite stories are of how she cooked a meal for all the wedding guests at my mom's wedding, and how she used to bake the communion bread for the little church down the hill. My Granny also used to love cute shoes and shoe shopping. Once I got my driver's license she would beg me to take her shoe shopping. She wore the same size as me, so this summer my aunt gave my mom all her shoes to give to me. I think of the verse, "Beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news..." She walked faithfully with the Lord, and thus gave me a heritage of faith. All day that I wore her shoes, I thought of her and her beautiful feet.

Sara, Sara . . . What a beautiful story. I don't want to always talk about myself but you and I have so much in common.

I adored my grandmother also. She was the most inspirational woman I have ever met.

One of my best memories about my grandmother is her shoes! Her and I wore the same size also! Once she admired a pair I had on so I took them off and gave them to her. That touched her so much that I was going home barefooted. It really was not a big deal on my part. I loved her so much and she loved me. She always wanted my shoes when I was through with them. I never told her that when I caught wind of her liking a pair, I would suddenly become tired of them. :) I can remember a red pair she really loved.

Until the day she died, my favorite place in this world was her house. If I stayed more than a day with her, I would end up in one of her "dusters" (Do you know what those are?) after my bath and I ALWAYS wore her houseshoes and her yard shoes. You know yard shoes, don't you? Those are the shoes by the back door that you wear to work in the garden or just go out in the yard so you don't mess up your good shoes. Bless her heart, I remember one time wearing her yard shoes so much that she actually had to buy another pair so we both could be outside at the same time. :)

You sound so much like the way I was with my grandmother. You called yours Granny and I called mine Nanny. She was barely 37 years old when I was born. I could tell you a lot of stories that I know you would relate to.

Forgive me for being so personal. I had to tell you that one.

This made me think of my Nanny. She loved shoes, too and my daughter is constantly picking out stuff that looks exactly like something my grandmother would choose!
