Captivating Cappedocia Part III

One of the best parts of any vacation is eating. Right? Next door to our pension is a great place to eat. This family-owned, family-run restaurant is actually the family's home. They sleep upstairs and we eat in what would be considered their den. Even though the weather was mild, they immediately built a fire in their wood-burning stove since we had a baby. You can see the result...he got toasty warm mid-meal and went to sleep. Those cheeks need some serious pinching...
We ate Turkish-style..on the floor, off low tables, with our shoes off, sitting on Turkish rugs. We explained to the kids this would have been how Jesus ate with his disciples. It is easy to envision John leaning over on Jesus, isn't it?
The girls filled up on homemade tomato soup and grilled chicken kabobs. Long day of hiking, full tummies, warm room, and soft cushions: good conditions to drift off to sleep.
Eva busied herself playing with their little boy, Izit.
In the kitchen, they were preparing some dolma, stuffed grape leaves.
The young mother, chief cook, and my new friend.

What a way to have a vacation! Nothing better than a good meal and a warm atmosphere with a comfortable place to sleep.

I know why you like to visit that area.

P. S. I think we need to make Turkey a future destination! You are a great salesperson Sara.

P. S. S. The kids were darling on Easter. Such beautiful faces they all have. Reflective of what is on the inside, I think. ;)
