Happy Veterans' Day!

My sweet OBU friend Lisa posted this picture of her son.  I had to have it, and she granted me permission. It's beautiful, isn't it? And it speaks some of what is lodged in my heart this week. I just want to say thank you to this man, Mr. Albert Richardson, not only for serving our country and losing his arm in battle, but also for being part of a generation that held a moral line in our country for a very long time. Thank you, older generation, for upholding marriage between man and woman, for staying married, for taking us to church, for reminding us that God made us and gave us our freedoms.

It is called change. If we mourn too long, then there is no one to stand against these things.

I really believe there will be those of us (more than just a few) who will rise above this. I love American history and when I look at it honestly, cannot see where it is any worse now that at different times in our past.

C is not, and never has been, and never will be, a popular thing - not for long anyway. Should we expect it to be? We are not of this world. I, personally, am energized after my election night of prayer. :) Our "ideal" of America seems to be gone at the moment, but not America. Sara, that was/is an ideal that has always had to be fought for and always hard won . . . What we are seeing now is the time for the fight, sort of speak. Remember that old cliche', "Freedom is not free?" That is becoming a reality to us now. We must fight, in so many words, to hold onto those things we hold dear.

Don't worry, sooner or later we will win. Good always does. :)

So happy you could use the picture. Mr. Richardson is a very special person. He lost his arm in the Battle of the Bulge.. he continues to participate in as many local veteran's events as possible, even the one at my school. He's an inspiration. Jonah doesn't realize now what an honor it was to have his picture made with this soldier, but one day he will, because I'll tell him! :-)
