Spring Events

Is your Spring busy? Ours is! Here are a few things we've been doing...
This was our Annual Staff Picnic. (I managed to get one photo that day...glad it included two handsome guys.)
Mother's Day!

We have two new mommies-to-be on our staff. My two friends and I hosted a baby shower for them.

Here are the cute mommies-to-be, from South Africa and Turkey.

So, what are you busy doing?

Teyze

This year I have taught two afternoons per week in Pre-Kindergarten. I've really enjoy it. I'm glad to be helping at the school, and it's nice to be teaching. On one of those days each week, I have a Turkish lady who comes to babysit my son. She speaks only Turkish. As little as Big Ben says, he very clearly walked through the aisle at the grocery the other day saying, "That's juice. That's juice. That's juice." in Turkish all down the long juice aisle. She's learned a few English words, too....like "snack." She takes very good care of him and takes him to play outside at the park. Then while he's napping, she tidies up the house and sometimes makes us a Turkish meal. I am thankful for her help.

Winter Hideout

It has been a very unusual winter. We had very little snow for so long, but when it finally did snow, we got a blizzard. Then winter just held on...for as long as possible. My friend T and I try to get together weekly...for our little ones to play and for encouragement for each other. During the long winter, we found a spot inside a mall that had a little play place for toddlers. It was really nice to get them out and let them play without the bitter wind.
They seemed to enjoy the snack time more than anything.

And now Spring is officially here!

A Special Lady

This dear friend arrived several years ago...long ago enough that my now almost-junior-high-daughter had her as a second grade teacher. She has faithfully served our school. I could go on and on about her talents, maturity, servant-spirit. But the thing I want to focus on today is the way she has met a need for me. She has given Firstborn extra responsibilities at school, spent time with her, and made her see how much she is valued as a person. While doing all this, she has set a wonderful example of a godly, young lady.
The other night, I found Firstborn huddled in her closet, making a pair of earrings for this special teacher's birthday.

We appreciate you, Miss N!

Recital Suggestion

I wrote a note to Sweet Cheeks' high school piano teacher this week, asking for her to help SC pick out a recital song for the Spring Recital. She reported that SC enthusiastically suggested that she play Jolly Ol' St. Nick, as she had done at the Christmas Recital. Why? She already knew that song so well! And, she even knew what page number it was on!

What did you like about today?

I liked getting to take my son to the park after a long winter.
I liked teaching him to blow the dandelion seeds.

I liked being a mom.

Busy Days Equal Sleepy Afternoons

CC suggested Sweet Cheeks might need a Sunday afternoon nap. I think he was right.
