Remember we flew budget, not schedule-friendly. Our flight was early and long. But it was so worth it.
We had a short layover in Amsterdam. CC planned a very fast subway ride and then walk through the heart of Amsterdam.
It was a beautiful crisp day, and it was nice to get some fresh air out of the airport. We went into a grocery story and got some croissants and cheese for some quick sandwiches.
And the most wonderful conclusion of all to our trip was here. The "ONE" thing that CC and I said that we missed on our trip was a bagpipe for the kids to hear, as we had heard on our anniversary trip. But it had been so fun, we had forgotten saying it. As we briskly made our way back to the subway, this Scottish chap (in Amsterdam) marched out to the city center, clad in the Campbell tartan, and began playing "Auld Lang Syne." It was beautiful. I glanced as CC, and he glanced at me. Our smile at each other said one thing, "This is the God we serve." Only He would gift us with that, just to remind us that He indeed gives us beautiful gifts to survive this world until His return.
CC took Big Ben to drop a little money in his box. It became one of my favorite memories of the trip.
