Goynuk: braving the water

Admittedly, the weather was much warmer than ever before. It was hitting 70's everyday and no rain. So, I wore my flip flops...unheard of in Turkey in December.

Normal families look like this. Dad is fishing on the pier. Mom is watching the boys play, no one touching the icy December water. They are dressed in multiple layers...tights (yes, boys), pants, undershirts, jackets, shoes.

And then there's us.

I agreed to this because I really, in the depth of my heart, do not believe this is going to make them sick. Afterall, what do the Polar Bear Swim Clubs do? I decided if they were brave enough to swim in it, they had my permission. I've even heard that spraying your body with ice cold water at the end of a shower will shock your immune system into action. Theirs were shocked, certainly.

And then there's Sweet Cheeks, who would never in her right mind set foot in that Sea unless dragged.

The beach is fun without turning your lips blue.

Oh, the DRAFTS here will cause certain illness! It can be 90 degrees out, no AC, and yet if a breeze comes through an open window, you're in trouble! I don't understand why it's ok when you walk out of the building and you feel the same breeze?!

Ah, what a wonderful post! I like your philosophy as a mom and swimming in the ocean. I try to be that way with my kids also - Let them enjoy things as much as possible.

Eva still makes me smile. I so relate to her . . .

What was your little man doing during all this . . . ?

Thanks again for sharing Sara. Love reading these posts. Anxious to hear how the Split Shoes story turns out. Did you ever take the girls toys to the other children?
