Our next venture was to take them to see the Chimaera, the "fire-breathing" mountain.
The hike up was a long one, but well worth the effort.
At the top of the mountain, spontaneous fires burst out of the rock. It's a big scientific mystery, but they have determined the fires are not volcanic-activity related. They've analyzed the gasses, but they are not supposed to combust at those temperatures. So, scientists really don't know.
This is an old pagan temple built at the top.
...and a tomb. Wiseguy.
